Hindawi, one of the world’s largest open access publishers of peer reviewed academic research, has partnered with full-service product development agency Thinslices to set up a new product development team in Iasi. Hindawi and Thinslices will be launching their open source product development partnership at Muzeul Unirii, on June 28 at 11 a.m. After the press conference will follow a social gathering, a.k.a. party, at Acaju (7 p.m.).
The partnership could mark an important shift for the IT industry in Iasi. Thinslices’ mission is to bring 50 product companies to Iasi in the next 15 years and catalyze the transition from an economy driven by outsourcing to one driven by intellectual property. The first of those companies is Hindawi Limited, one of the world’s largest open access publishers of peer reviewed academic research.
A product-focused approach will provide training in the skills needed to build products to the IT community in Iasi, and, we hope, foster a new generation of startup companies and software entrepreneurs. That’s how Iasi will start creating its own intellectual property – Romanian intellectual property – and become a player on the global product market.
Hindawi’s mission is to drive change in scholarly communications through greater openness. Hindawi firmly believes that science works best when research is open. We embody this notion through the publication of fully open access journals, working with other organizations to build community-owned open source infrastructure, and enabling partners to transition into an open access world. We place the researcher and the research community at the heart of everything we do and we strive to create a future where knowledge is open to all.
Collaborations like these are an important step for Iasi, as the city needs to write a new chapter in its IT story in order to realise its full potential. Read all the details about the Hindawi – Thinslices partnership here: https://hindawiwelcometoiasi.ro/
